School bus GPS tracking for Delhi schools

Fog in winter, crowded colony lanes and big campuses with many routes. Delhi schools need one live view of every bus, and parents need to know when to step out.

School bus GPS tracking in Delhi: Transport manager watching school buses on a live dashboard

What makes Delhi school transport different

Many Delhi schools run large fleets, with buses fanning out across South, West and East Delhi and often over the border into Noida, Gurugram or Ghaziabad. Pickups are at colony gates and market corners where buses cannot wait long. In December and January, dense morning fog slows traffic on the Ring Road and the arterial roads, and schools sometimes change their timings for the winter. Each change brings a wave of questions from parents.

One dashboard for a big fleet

When a campus runs dozens of routes, the transport office needs to see every bus at once, not call drivers one by one. The transport manager dashboard shows every bus live, every pickup and drop point, and which stops have been visited or missed. If a student moves house from Dwarka to Janakpuri mid-year, the manager can move them to another bus in a few steps. Read more on our school transport management system page.

Fog mornings and changing timings

  • ETA on the live map. When fog slows the buses, parents can see the delay as it happens, so nobody waits outside in the cold longer than needed.
  • About-2 km alerts. The alert fires on distance, not on the timetable, so it stays useful even when the whole route runs late.
  • School announcements. When winter timings change, the school can post one announcement to parents in the app instead of sending messages bus by bus.

Attendance for buses that cross the border

Students who board in Noida or Gurugram may spend a long time on the bus. An RFID tap on the handrail reader records when each child got on and off, so the school has a clear record for every child, wherever they board. At the gate, UHF readers log students walking in without a queue, which helps when many buses arrive together.

A sample set-up for a Delhi school

A school in South Delhi with routes to Faridabad and Noida might fit a 4G tracker and RFID reader on every bus, dome cameras and dashcams on the longer cross-border routes, and UHF readers at two gates. The admin console tracks vehicle document expiry dates, so renewals are not missed. Each Friday the transport team reviews trip history and missed stops. This is only an example. We plan your set-up with you after a site visit.

Delhi school bus tracking: questions

Can one dashboard show all our Delhi routes?

Yes. The transport manager dashboard shows every bus live, all pickup and drop points, and visited and missed stops for the whole fleet.

Does the alert still help when fog delays the bus?

Yes. The parent alert fires when the bus is about 2 km from the stop, based on distance rather than the timetable, so it still works when a route runs late.

Can buses that go to Noida or Gurugram use the same system?

Yes. Tracking and attendance work the same way on any route, including routes that cross into other NCR cities.

How do parents hear about winter timing changes?

The school can send an announcement to parents through the parent app.
