Kochi's port and its roads

Kochi is Kerala's commercial capital and its main port. Container trucks run between the international container transshipment terminal at Vallarpadam, Cochin Port on Willingdon Island and the warehouses and CFSs around Kalamassery and Edappally. Freight leaves the city on NH 66, which follows the coast north and south, and on NH 544 towards Thrissur, Palakkad and Coimbatore. Staff cabs serve the IT campuses at Kakkanad, and city vans work through narrow, busy roads.

Kerala's long monsoon brings heavy rain and slow traffic for months each year, which makes reliable live tracking more valuable, not less.

Container and highway trucks

Put geofences around the Vallarpadam gate, a CFS and the consignee's site, and the software logs every arrival and departure, so a turnaround dispute can be settled from the report. The GPS tracker for trucks refreshes roughly every 10 seconds and shows ignition status and stop time. On the ghat sections towards Tamil Nadu or wherever signal drops, the Satcop DS8888/BS8888 device keeps up to about 15 hours of data in local memory with a 6 to 8 hour internal backup battery.

AIS 140 in Kochi

Passenger vehicles and some goods vehicles registered in Kerala may be asked to carry an AIS 140 vehicle location tracking device.
