AIS 140 GPS tracker for trucks, taxis and commercial fleets

What AIS 140 means, in plain words

AIS 140 is an Indian automotive standard for intelligent transport systems in commercial and public transport vehicles. A tracking unit built to it is often called a VLTD (vehicle location tracking device). It reports position to a tracking platform at regular intervals and supports standard data formats.

Whether a specific vehicle needs such a device depends on its category, its permit and the transport authority of your state. We do not give a general rule, because it varies. Please confirm with your RTO what your vehicles require, then share that with us so we match the right setup.

The platform behind the device

AIS 140 tracker or standard tracker?

Not every commercial vehicle needs an AIS 140 design. Private goods vehicles often run well on a standard tracker, while permit-bound passenger vehicles may be asked for an AIS 140 unit. If in doubt, check with your RTO first; we will supply what fits.

Installation on commercial vehicles

Our technicians fit the unit out of sight in the dashboard area, wire it to permanent and ignition power, and route antennas for a clear sky view. Each fitting is tested before the vehicle leaves: position fix, ignition reporting and data reaching the platform. For large fleets, we schedule installation in batches at your yard so vehicles stay on the road as much as possible.

After installation

The fleet dashboard shows every vehicle's last report, so a unit that stops sending stands out quickly. Our support team helps diagnose wiring or SIM issues and arranges a visit where needed. Trip history, ignition logs and harsh-driving events remain available for reports to customers, insurers or internal audits.

Working with transporters and taxi aggregators

Transporters with mixed fleets can run AIS 140 design units on permit vehicles and standard trackers on the rest, all under one account. Taxi operators can give each driver-owner a mobile view of their own car while the operator sees the whole fleet.

Documents and records

Fleet owners often need paperwork as well as hardware.
